NOTE: You might have troubles with this config if you don't have a numpad.
So I thought if people say it's nice to contribute, here you get Saevio's configuration. Hope you like it.

Guide:

Extract all the files into ETMain. Open Names.cfg and change "name1", "name2" etc to the names you want to use if you want to swap between clantags or fun names.

Once you're ingame, type /exec graphic and /exec sae.

You have a little interface on your numpad now:

If you press Numpad +, you can access the nameswitcher. With the buttons 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 and 9 you can find a name and with 5 you activate it, then your name is switched. This prevents kicks for too many name changes.
If you press Numpad -, you can access the class switcher.

1: Field Ops
2: Medic
3,6,9: Covert with Sniper (3) Sten (6) or FG42 (9)
5,8: Engineer with SMG (5) or Rifle (8)
4,7: Soldier with MG (4) or Panzerfaust (7)

With Numpad , [the one next to 0] you activate normal chat binds, with Numpad 0 you activate the spawntimer. Backspace sets the amount of time the Spawntimer counts down, T triggers it, so if you see the enemy spawn, press T. This does not work on NoQuarter.

You walk with WASD, the arrows are used for other things.


Up Arrow: Pause / Unpause in etpro

Left Arrow: Allies Middle Arrow: Spectator Right arrow: Axis

You need to /exec sae everytime you start the game, else you will not be able to shoot. That is because I have a bind that lets you sprint while you shoot. You can also put exec "sae" into your autoexec.cfg if you want to do it automatically.

If you have any more questions, just ask me. Have fun with it. The quality might differ from mod to mod, the graphic configuration is aimed at ETPro.

[P.S: if you play noquarter, you have to bind +attack2. Weapalt does not work there].

I haven't been using your config since 2009, this is a config I made by myself, 2-3 parts were copied off but wouldn't have been too hard to make by myself tbh...

Yes - that is much better - as a matter of fact I have never seen it done so well. Using a hide/show feature is a good idea, and to include the file is a bonus. Good job -- Now lets get a cfg thread area to have only scripts and cfgs in.

Here's a method of using just 2 keys to cycle through any number of name+custom binds pertaining to that name:

This is in my master bind program (saved under a different name that wolfconfigmp.cfg because that file is rewritten as you play the game. I can rebind any key to do anything but if I need my stock setup hitting the , will reset all binds to my stock custom setup.

Hitting the . key echos in the upper right hand corner the new name selection. Note this temporarily rebinds the , to execute the name script (which also may have some custom binds to that name/personality) of which the last line of each name script rebinds the , to execute bind.cfg.

I have fun with some of my personalities, the >shArk is one that started off singing 'mack the knife' but now has a song list of 10-16 songs he sings line by line while killing the enemies (picture your typical manical horror movie villan.)
The song selector and 'singing' is also a simple 3 key setup with the up arrow cycling through songs, the down arrow selects a song binding the mouse3 key to 'sing' each line of a song when pressed.

These types of setups allow many uses of minimal keys

For class/weapons one could also set it up as a quick 2 key setup
First key cycles through the classes till the second key is selected (picking class) then the first key cycles through the weapon options of that class with the second key picking that class as selection and reseting first key to class selection again.

This frees up keys for other custom binds.

scripts that don't change cvars should be fine on servers where you have no issues. There are some scripts which change things FOV for example and some settings may be beond those set by various servers these you'll usually find out by a warning or a kick for out of range.

The config works fine on ETPro, NoQuarter, ETPub, TJMod and Jaymod. Didn't have the opportunity to test it on other mods. Also it's conform with the ESL, ClanBase and Punkbuster rules.

my 2 cents:
com_soundmegs is on 24,
unlike com_hunkmegs this cache is kinda dynamic, once its filled up, some unused sound gets removed and the needed one loaded from HD.
If you use for example the soundpack, you get a huge amount of waves, which when played have to be loaded from hd. They are anyway loaded from HD, but if your com_soundmegs cache is lets say at 256, it has to load less often from HD, and thus will save you probably lag moments.

r_mode is on -1
but no where is r_customheight/r_customwidth defined, that might break some setups..
better remove, or add a section for it..

cl_packetdup is on 1, that is only usefull if you have packetloss, there is some cmd to see that, forgot it again, if you have blue and green lagometer it should be fine..

i would put i some kind of "accept" button.. otherwise u get kicked from the most server (to much name changes) if u switch through the list.
but jeah my one is nearly the same (+ accept button).. much easier then 1 name per key ^^


but jeah i guess i will have a look on the grafic or other things when im home... ^^

no, it doesnt kick, when clicking [ it shows nick on echo and with ] changes it

lol albuz, mine is so difficult, yet our name changers are identical in form.

btw I do like how you guys added sounds to your selection process, I never though of adding that to my scripts but will in the future. thumbsup.gif

the difference is that mine executes small .cfg files that have the set name and altered custom binds for each name.
Note the first thing that each script does is execute my stock bind setup then modifies only those lines that need changing.

examples of the .cfg files are such:

As you can see this is a tongue in cheek humorus type personality. When activated it sets the name then does a quick 'jaws' theme to let folks know whats to come. It also resets my good bye key to a proper vegas lounge lizard type sign off.

The next bit is the song selector script where it cycles through my song options (UPARROW). The next bit is the intro bit when I select the song (DOWNARROW).

The last are the 'singing' of the various tunes (MOUSE3). Note that the song selections loop so that I can cycle through the music to randomize what is sung next.

Practical purposes of this are virtually nil, but after all, ET & wild west are just games, and we all should be having fun.

Now one could alter this very same script to set up a weapons/class selector which would be very practical.

;) The game of life is too short to be taken seriously :p

but i played well
except i found it was kinda dark emot_bigsmile.gif
had to change the mapoverbrightbits

You should put r_ignorehwgamma on 0, then you can adjust brightness with r_gamma. But it's true, some say it's too dark.

KLAUS: Put [hide] around the cfg please... epic thread stretch...

I was looking for such stuff since a long time, BUT!

You know what would we REALLY need? Not simple configs, but a GUIDE, that lists all settings, all possible commands etc. and explains if needed.


Like if I want to set unique binds, I need to know all possible command that can be included in a bind, so I can combine them freely. Of course examples are nice, like the on button arty I say is cool!!! Also I was looking for info on how the damn hack to change class via bind for a long time. But still I feel a great need for a simple list of possible stuff, categorized like color codes, actions (to include in bind), cvars, etc.

I might try to get stuff together but I don't have deeper knowledge about the engine so I can only organize what I see in your examples and some tutorials on the net. So if anyone more competent wants to help, would be great. I could maybe offer, that I collect and categorize what I have found yet, then post, and then more competent people can add their 2 cents, add missing ones, correct explanations and so on. In the end we may end up with an ultimate binding and command guide that could benefit all B members as well as other players. I have never seen such complete guidebook nor did any I asked know about that such would exist.

there was such a site...rtcw.jolt.co.uk...but unfortunatly its down :icon_confused:
there were great explanations about cvars,binds,tweaking,serversettings and much more
