Since PunkBuster is not anymore supporting Enemy Territory nor creating new etkeys it is really important to save your own - or know how to create a new one.

Saving your etkey - TrackBase

After Even Balance announced dropping support for ET, TrackBase announced their ETKey Management feature. To use this you have to be registered to TrackBase and logged in. The idea is pretty simple. Save your etkey to the site and be able to download your own etkey where ever you log in to your TrackBase.
When uploading your key you will need to set a name for it. Doesn't matter which name you give. After submitting your key you can download any key you have uploaded and remove them. You can not access to others' keys and they can't access to yours. This is a good alternative for emailing etkey to yourself.

I recommend also memory sticks and emailing etkey to yourself.

Generating new etkey

If you need to create a new etkey, there are some etkey generators online.
I recommend you to use http://etkey.org or http://etkey.net

After generating an etkey you have to navigate yourself to C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain or C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\etmain, depending do you have 32 or 64 bit system. If you have saved your Enemy Territory to another directory, go and find it. The etkey must be saved it etmain folder in ET folder.

Please not if you generate a new etkey all your adminlevels will be gone. You need to have your own etkey to have your own adminlevels on Bunker servers.

Make this sticky?
This all information can be found already on forums but this is the only topic which has this all just in one post.

Yea, Puppy is correct. Save it, u might need it some day.
Tho u never cant be sure, is trackbase online next year or so. Saving only there is not so great idea - more like trackbase promo to himself ^^
There are 2 dumb-proof ways to save - emali it to urself or more better, copy whole game to dvd/second hdd.
That whole game copy is usefull in meny ways: u have etkey safe, u have ur cfg/cfg's safe, u dont have to install ET - just copy/paste or play from dvd with huge lag :D

I personally have etkey in three places atm. My etmain folder, my little hdd which I can take where ever I go (portable hdd or how do you call it?), and trackbase. I got in my portable hdd in one ET installer + patches, etkey and my cfg. :)

I would recommend that you archive and password protect the file first.

Just a thought.

Since years I have my etkey on two different email address, my pendrive, my seconadry HDD, and uploaded to my server. :D

Oh, and in my etmain too. :P

I wouldn't recommend the trackbase storage though. If anyone manages to hack that, they will get everyone's etkey, while they don't know where to look for it on my server, or in my emails.
