The bottom picture says it all, everyone that legally can SHOULD carry a gun. Guns DO save lives and protect the innocent. I feel safer when I see a normal, trained person carrying a gun, long live the 2nd Amendment :yoji:

That's the kind of gun control we need... use both hands and take your time in a hurry.

As an NRA member, I receive a magazine called "The Rifleman." It often has articles about armed civilians protecting themselves against criminals. Some of them are really funny... like when grandma pulls a gun from her purse and shoots a burglar!!!!

That is eutopian thinking. It would be better if we could all form a circle, hold hands, and sing Kum Ba Ya. Reality is it is not going to happen. There are bad people in the world that you need to protect yourself from. Hours after the senseless murder in that theater, the democratic republican mayor of New York, Bloomberg, rushed to a microphone and started calling for gun control. Now this is scary, because this guys does not think twice about taking away peoples freedoms. Like his ban on salt and soft drinks. Why do you think the cowards pick these venues to do this stuff. It is some of the last place they feel they will be shot back at. Remember Virginia Tech massacre? Schools are gun free zones. Rest assured that although I don't pack, i have one in my truck. Someone comes up in my building shooting, I know where to go.

You pro gun control freaks out there, keep this in mind. When they outlaw guns, then only the outlaws will have them.

Remove guns, and then the next step is to ban knives, even limiting kitchen knives to a <4" length. This is what England did and some eastern states are trying to do the same with knives even now.

Truth is, ANYTHING is a weapon if one is willing to use it. Think how a few glass bottles of gasoline would have worked in that theater. Laws only affect honest people, like EZ said.

in western europe people don't carry guns and it's not that bad over here :witchdoctor2_smiley:

edit: yes there's a borderline for what you can forbid, but a gun is a much higher threat than a knife.

where do ur crazy people get their guns? probably from the same shops as you are :)

Its a tricky subject - there was a time - when anyone could legally own a hand gun in the Uk - now its illegal - we still have gun crime - but our per capita murder rate and our gun related crime are a fraction of those in the US - I would happily argue that any responsible adult has the right to do whatever they wish - as long as it doesnt harm others - but someone has to police these things - the vaste majority of people are responsible - but we all have to factor in the lowest common denominator - wether thats the deranged or the bad - The argument is very academic in the US which is awash with guns - but if you look at any society with strict gun controls you will find the murder rate declines - It could be argued that your individual freedoms outway the overall benefits to society as a whole - but who makes the decision about which citizens are responsible to carry guns and which are not - you DONT trust the government to make the right decisions about your right to bear arms - but you trust it to make the right decision about who should have that right - The point is, that if your inclined to do harm you reach for the most potent weapon you can find - In the UK thats limited to a wet Trout or soggy Leek - On this subject I'm glad I live in a relatively gun free society - It strikes me that if you remove all control it just becomes an arms race - those robbers would have been able to legally own assault rifles - up until the point they broke the law - We BRITS can be BAD ASS when we need to be and then we get the guns out - I just wish our dental care was a bit better - its an interesting subject - Freedom or control - individual rights or the rights or society

lol. Another state-ist trying to quiet the people.

Our society was built with right to own and bear arms. The founding fathers wanted the government to fear the people, not the other way around. That way, the would make decisions that would be in the best interest of the people, not the other way around. But, I guess, that was a different day. A day when there was rugged individualism and self reliance. A day when the government's only concern was affairs of state, not deciding what age they will not allow you have a hip replacement. Ah, how I long for the good ole days.

I agree that Race , Religion or Politics never make good subjects for any amicable conversation - But gun law ?
Its not in the same class as politics surely :-)
There are, after all, governments of all political spectrums with all manner and various degrees of gun laws - with very little correlation between the two.
Paradoxically the more Liberal the Government the tighter their gun laws become.

If you don't like the topic you don't have to read it or post. I'm not locking this simply because it's actually a good topic and there has been good discussion so far.

I bought about 600 rounds of ammo yesterday, maybe I should go buy a new gun today. I refuse to be a slave even if they finally take away our right to buy/own guns, I'll start shooting. Slaves can't own weapons, but free people can walk into a store and 20 minutes later walk out with guns and ammo. If you can't own guns then you are a slave to the government. Being able to own lots of firearms and trained to place shots in your chest or head in case the government or street thugs come knocking, that's my America. If the world goes completely to shit, at least I will be able to defend my family and steal food from the liberal idiots that think guns are bad. If someone breaks into my house I'm shooting, the police aren't going to save me. What really makes me happy is when you hear a story about someone breaking into a house with a young kid inside, that kid goes and gets mom/dads gun and shoots the intruder dead.

I don't know how people that don't like guns or can't have them are supposed to protect themselves if the need arises, I guess you people keep a stick and a pile of rocks next to your bed...Good luck with that, I prefer my guns.

what if a 16yearold is the burglar?

what if a rightfull owner gets mad when his gf breaks up with him and he shoots her?

what if 2 gunowners are drunk as hell and start fighting?

what if..

I agree there's positive sides about having the right to bear a gun, but I still don't support it :)

I'm not a slave if I'm not allowed/don't want to have a gun.

Weapons only harm people, we should all carry flowers :P

Weapons don't harm people, people harm people while using a weapon. :russian_roulette: Enjoy the flowers, I feel better when I see/know people around me have guns. I guess it's how you're raised, I was raised with guns and taught how/when to use them. If I'm drinking there wont be a gun in my hand or near me because I know better. If my GF broke up with me I wouldn't shoot her, I'd be happy. If a 16 year old broke into my house, dead with a few holes in him. Knives are just as deadly as guns, easy to conceal and they don't make noise when using them, except for the person screaming that was stabbed. :knights_apprentice:

And this Aurora, Colorado shooting this spring barely made the news.

Banning guns would be as effective as banning drugs or alcohol, and we all know how well those bans have worked.

what if..

if if's and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a wonderful Christmas. What if Obama suspends Congress and the Supreme Court? What if aliens invade? What if someone tries to break into my home while me and my family are there? I have no qualms about shooting someone, ANYONE that invades my home. There will be no warning. In my mind it will be either them or me. And since I'm the only one standing between them and my family, plus the fact I like breathing, I will choose me.

what if a rightfull owner gets mad when his gf breaks up with him and he shoots her?

Then she needs to be a quicker draw.

what if 2 gunowners are drunk as hell and start fighting?

Then they are idiots and maybe they will cancel each other out.

Weapons only harm people, we should all carry flowers :P

Guns don't kill people. People kill people. If the guy in Colorado didn't have guns, then he would have bombed them with a fertilizer bomb. If he couldn't get the fertilizer, then he would get gasoline. There is always something. And it's not the something we should be afraid of, it's the person.
