It was back in August 2017 when Ubisoft's tactical shooter, Rainbow Six Siege, went over the impressive 20 million player milestone, and now just eight months later, the company has announced that game has over 30 million registered players across all platforms. Its commitment to providing ongoing support for the game seems to be paying off very well for Ubisoft.

It was also revealed that the game's e-sports scene is thriving as well, seeing 321,000 concurrent viewers at peak during the 2018 Six Invitational tournament with "more than 6.2 million hours watched across all channels."

In the announcement, Rainbow Six Siege brand director Alexandre Remy went on to thank the community for the ongoing backing:

"On behalf of the entire team, we wanted to thank every member of our diverse, global community for their support of our game. Our players are the most valuable element to our game. Over the last three years, we have endeavored to create a solid community built on transparency as we grow and evolve the ever-expanding world of Rainbow Six Siege. We are so tremendously honored to achieve this milestone, and we will continue to do everything we can to earn each and every new person that decides to play."

The game is currently in its third year of support, with the developer planning to add an additional six operators, two maps, as well as a map rework throughout the rest of 2018. Year 2's first content drop, Chimera, landed in March, bringing the two new attack orientated operators, Lion and Finka, as well as the time-limited Outbreak co-op event which only came to an end last week.
