A full-fledged sequel to the Doom reboot from 2016 was announced at Bethesda's E3 presentation earlier this year titled Doom Eternal. However, gameplay footage was missing from the announcement, with only a short cinematic trailer being shown. Today at QuakeCon, id Software rectified that problem.

As the footage has not been uploaded to YouTube separately just yet, the above video of the QuakeCon livestream will have to suffice for now. The video should begin at the Doom Eternal section, which is around the one hour 16 minutes mark.

As evident by the gameplay, in addition to massively upgraded weapons he can use on enemies, the Doom Slayer even has an arm blade to rip apart the "mortally challenged" this time. The game will feature double the enemies compared to the previous title, and they will also visibly take damage from weapons fire, with chunks of body parts being blown off.

Players will have much more freedom when it comes to movement as well, thanks to the new grappling hook and dashing mechanics that were showcased. As a brand new feature, players will be able to invade other player worlds as a demon to try and slay them.

Doom Eternal still doesn't have a release date, but it is slated to launch for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch. It will be interesting to see if this title will also skip out on a Steam release akin to Fallout 76, which will only be available via Bethesda's own launcher.
