In April of this year, Microsoft treated Skype Insiders on Android and iOS to a new feature that allowed them to share their phone's screen during a video call. Today, Skype announced that it has rolled out the screen sharing capability to mobile devices for general users.

Screen sharing on mobile presents some interesting use cases, according to Skype. For example, it can come to the aid of someone who wants to shop online with friends. Users can also collaborate with colleagues from a distant place using their handset with this feature, tucked away in the three horizontal-dot menu of Skype along with other options.

Screen sharing has been one of Skype's major features for quite some time now on PCs. However, mobile devices had long held out against the feature mainly because of some limitations implemented by mobile operating systems with regard to screen recording. Its launch on both Android and iOS should be a welcome addition for users.

Additionally, video calling on mobile has been simplified, thanks to Skype's new design that allows users to hide the call controls with a single tap or fully rid the screen of all obstructions with a double tap. Call options can be restored with a single tap.

These new changes along with screen sharing are available on the latest version of Skype for Android and iOS version 12 or higher.
